How to avoid viruses at home

How to avoid viruses at homeCan your own home make you ill? We usually blame it on the people around us who sneeze and cough or on the cold weather but have you ever thought that the reason for your current health condition may be your own home?!

Viruses usually like to settle into the joints between the tiles of the bathroom or in the keyboard of your computer. So in order to get rid of them, and to keep your home safe, you should thoroughly clean your house or at least follow these tips:

  1. Change the mop for the tiles or sanitize it, otherwise, you will carry even more bacteria around the house with every following wiping. After each cleaning, you should soak the mop in hot water, and this way you wouldn’t have to worry about the germs. As for the wet towels, you should always leave them somewhere where they can dry otherwise you will create perfect conditions for mold and bacteria to occur.

  1. Before you buy any cleaning product, take a look at the labels. It may contain ingredients you might be allergic to or any other containments, which might be harmful for the human body. Try to buy Eco-friendly products.

  1. Sanitize the sponge you use for washing the dishes. The basic rule is to replace the sponge every few weeks. There is another option, in case you forget to bye sponges every time or if you do not want to buy a new one so often. Put the sponge into the microwave for 2 minutes. This will kill 99% of germs, which already live in it.

  1. Clean up the desk where you work. It is almost unbelievable, but there are about 400 times more bacteria on it than in the toilet. Disinfect the surface and do not miss the computer. Do you remember when was the last time you washed your hands before you sat at your computer? Or when did you cleaned the keyboard gently with cotton cloth moistened with alcohol?

  1. Another advice for basic protection from the bacteria is to wipe the phone and the remote control. These are just examples of items that we consider to be clean by default and we rarely clean them.

  1. This may be well known, but it is very important – wash your hands frequently. With just 20 seconds under the tap, you can save yourself a lot of headaches.
